Dog Classes

Dog obedience and training classes are scheduled at the Monterey Bark Park in Galt on Saturdays through Nov. 21. The park is located at 1170 Monterey Bay Court in Galt.

Cost is $90 for this six-week course with an additional $15 fee for testing and certificate at end of course. Puppies must be at least 12 weeks old and have proof of vaccinations. Handlers must be physically able to control their dogs. Parents must accompany children under 12.

The class will focus on control and social skills in the pet dog. Your dog will not be trained for you. You will be given skills to use at home. It is up to owners to practice and reinforce the skills taught in class in order to have success. Participants may elect to take the test at the end of class in order to earn the AKC CGC certificate.

Owners should bring treats, water, water dish and bags suitable to pick up after the dog, and wear comfortable close-toed shoes.

Trainer Julie Priest is a nationally recognized professional trainer with more than 20 years experience teaching, training and competing in obedience and working dog sports.
