Galt High AP Scholar Awards earned by 32
Thirty-two students at Galt High have earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on AP Exams administered in May 2009.
The Advanced Placement (AP) provides motivated and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school and to earn college credit, advanced placement or both for successful performance on the AP Exams.
Of the students tested in May at Galt High: five qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least 3/5 on all AP Exams taken and grades or three or higher on five or more of these exams. Six qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and grades of three or higher on four or more of these exams, and 21 students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Exams with grades of three or higher.
More than 3,600 colleges and universities annually receive AP grades. Over 90 percent of four-year colleges in the U.S. provide credit and/or placement for qualifying exam grades. Research consistently shows that AP students who score a three or higher on AP Exams (based on a scale from one to five, with five being the highest) typically experience greater academic success in college and achieve higher graduation rates than students who do not participate in AP.
Earning Scholar with Distinction are Christophe Anslinger, Chad Brantley, Gerardo Gonzales, Scott McLelland and Katrina Morgan.
Earning Scholar with Honor are Brittany Bogan, Cindy Chagolla, Christina Goethel, Claudia Ochoa, Magaly Ortega and Adam Vuinovic.
Earning Scholar level are Betina Brantley, Gabriella Castillo, Audrey De Soto, Phillip Gleason, Andrew Hanashiro, Ashley Hurst, Diego Emilio Lopez, Leanna Lucero, Fong Lui, Timothy Marriott, Sarah Moore, Kortney Morris, Jonathan Oshalim, Jonathan Palisoc, Stewart Post, Amelia Raquel, Jonathan Rogers, Heather Schoch, Lucero Silva, Guadalupe Torres and Katarzyna Wilczek.
