Calendar items for the About Town section of The Galt Herald will be accepted for all local nonprofit events held for the community, and for nonprofit fundraising events at the discretion of the editor. Calendar items must be received by 12 p.m. on Monday to ensure publication in the Wednesday edition. All items must be received in writing or via email and must include a contact phone number. Kite Day April 11 at McFarland ranch
The Galt Area Historical Society is sponsoring its 18th annual Kite Day at McFarland Living History Ranch on Sunday, April 11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (with a possible rain date of April 18). Food and drinks will be available for purchase on site at 8899 Orr Road in Galt.
Blue Angel of Hope fundraiser April 15
Brewsters Bar & Grill of Galt will host a fundraiser for Blue Angel of Hope Thursday, April 15 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Brewsters is located at 201 Fourth Street, and dine-in or take-out options will be available. The restaurant will donate 25% of all meals purchased toward Blue Angel of Hope. The nonprofit supports wounded and fallen police officers and their families.
City of Galt Shred Day 2021
The city of Galt is hosting its annual shred event on Saturday, April 17, beginning at 7 a.m., at the Galt Market grounds, 905 Meladee Lane. The event ends at 11 a.m. or once the truck reaches capacity, whichever comes first. Residents can bring up to three standard storage boxes full of documents to shred or one garbage bag full of documents. Participants must be a resident of the city of Galt (residing within the city limits). Please bring proof of residency or a utility statement. Once the truck reaches capacity, the event will be over. Due to COVID guidelines, residents are asked to wear a mask and to stay in their vehicle while staff members retrieve appropriate documents. Prescription Drug Take-Back April 24
The Drug Enforcement Administration and its national and community partners will hold a Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Galt Police Department, 455 Industrial Drive. This is a safe, convenient and ecologically responsible method of prescription drug disposal. Bring prescription medication for drop-off and get it out of your home to reduce the potential for it being on the streets. Hypodermic needles are not accepted at this event.
