Senior Lunch slated for Dec. 9

South County Services Senior Lunch will be back this year, drive-thru style. The special holiday meal will take place Thursday, Dec. 9 at the Littleton Center, 410 Civic Drive. Service will begin at 11:30 a.m. The Galt Real Men’s Club will be cooking their famous barreled chicken. Tickets are required for this event, with more detailed information attached to the tickets. Breakfast with Santa Dec. 11 at Chabolla Center

Breakfast with Santa will take place on Saturday, Dec. 11 from 8:30-11 a.m., at Chabolla Center, 610 Chabolla Ave. Tickets are $6 in advance and $8 at the door, with limited seating.

Santa’s elves will be serving pancakes, sausages, fruit and juice. Plus, holiday music, arts and crafts will provide festive cheer for all.

Wreath ceremony slated Dec. 18

The newly formed Rio Cosumnes Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will host a Wreaths Across America ceremony at East Lawn Memorial Park, 9189 East Stockton Boulevard in Elk Grove on Saturday, Dec. 18, beginning at 9 a.m. Wreaths Across America is an annual event to honor fallen U.S. veterans by placing a memorial wreath on the headstones of service members in all 50 states and overseas.

Wild Bird Festival

The 15th annual Galt Wild Bird Festival is planned for Saturday, Feb. 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the Tundra Swan as the featured bird.

This celebration of birds has free admission and children’s activities all day; plus educational vendors, a live wild animal presentation, photography exhibit, and youth art contest.

New this year will be a Bird Photography Exhibit, and Virtual Experiences with artist John Muir Laws.

Tours include a “Behind Locked Gates” tour at Cosumnes River Preserve; plus Tall Forest with Dr. John Trochet, Delta Birding with Chris Conard, Staten Island Sunset with Emily Wells, the Cal Waste Recovery Systems Materials Tour; Guided Photography Walk at Cosumnes River Preserve, and Tracks and Scat Walk at Cosumnes River Preserve.

Presentations will be made by Conservation Ambassador Gabriel Kerschner, Leesa Klotz from Cal-Waste, Kelli Moulden with Hawks, Honkers and Hoots, Corky Quirk with Going Batty, and Keynote Speaker John Ehrenfeld.
