Calendar items for the About Town section of The Galt Herald will be accepted for all local nonprofit events held for the community, and for nonprofit fundraising events at the discretion of the editor. Galt toy drive
Cosumnes Fire and Galt Police departments are hosting a community toy drive. Donations are being collected at the Galt Police Department, 455 Industrial Drive; Cosumnes Fire Station 46, 1050 Walnut Avenue; Galt Walmart, 10470 Twin Cities Road; and Galt Smog, 515 N. Lincoln Way. The Galt toy drive provides a connection between first responders, people in need and those in the community capable of giving.
Santa and Sirens Parade
Get in the holiday spirit with this year’s Santa and Sirens display on Tuesday and Thursday, Dec. 1 and 3, at the Cosumnes Fire Department headquarters, 10573 E. Stockton Boulevard in Elk Grove, from 7-9 p.m. To keep the magic of this experience alive while ensuring community safety, Santa and Sirens will be a stationary display that you and your loved ones can drive by in the comfort of your own vehicles. New, unwrapped toys for a toy drive will be accepted.
Cars for Kids Toy Rally
The annual Cars for Kids Toy Rally will be held Saturday, Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Galt Police Department, 455 Industrial Drive. Please bring a new, unwrapped toy for children between the ages of 1-10 years old. Gift cards are a great option for older children between 10-13 years old. Every toy donation collected from this event will go to local families in need. Social distancing guidelines will be followed; just pull up in the drop off drive-thru.
Jingle Through the Market
The city of Galt will host Jingle Through the Market, a reverse parade, on Saturday, Dec. 5. This is a free family event. This creative magical holiday drive-thru experience will be at the Galt Market grounds from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Festive stationary floats, vehicles and booths will greet holiday guests as they cruise their way through the Market grounds. Cruising through the market is free and offered on a first-come, first-served basis; however, a limited amount of “Elf Express Pass” tickets will go on sale Nov. 25. The $10 per car express pass will allow ticket holders to enjoy hot cocoa and treats while they “jingle” through the Market at a designated time slot. Only 25 tickets will be sold per time slot, 6:30, 7, 7:30 and 8 p.m.

Senior Holiday Luncheon
South County Services will host its annual Senior Gala drive-thru style Dec. 10, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Guests can drive up at the Littleton Community Center, 410 Civic Drive, to receive their holiday meal. Guests will be treated to the Real Men’s Club’s famous barrel chicken, scalloped potatoes, corn and Spaans Parker House rolls. Although free, tickets are required and can be picked up at South County Services, 431 S. Lincoln Way from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information or to obtain tickets, call 209-745-9174.
