Walker Park update meeting Jan. 14

The public is encouraged to attend the Planning Commission Meeting Jan. 14 where changes to the Walker Community Park Master Plan will be discussed. The public meeting will begin at 6 p.m. The general public is encouraged to attend to provide input on the proposed project. Drive-thru Steak & Shrimp Dinner Jan. 15

The Galt Lions Club is planning an “8 is Great” drive-thru steak & shrimp dinner at Littleton Community Center on Saturday, Jan. 15 at 420 Civic Drive in Galt. Cost is $35 per person for an 8 oz. steak, 8 shrimp, penne pasta (with their famous red sauce), salad & roll. Wilton Memorial Rose Garden workday Jan. 23

The roses at the Wilton Memorial Rose Garden need community volunteers to help prune back the roses and do a general clean up on Saturday, Jan. 23, starting at 9 a.m. If you can help, bring your pruning shears, gloves, garden shoes, and lawn cart if you have one. We are also in need of a pickup truck and/or a trailer to haul off clippings. All help is greatly appreciated. The garden is located next to the Wilton Post Office at 11090 Jeff Brian Lane. Thornton Drive-thru Crab Dinner Jan. 23

Our Lady of Fatima Society of Thornton will hold its Drive-thru Crab Dinner on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, from 3-7 p.m., with pre-orders only to be picked up at Thornton Community Hall, 26596 N. Sacramento Blvd. in Thornton. Cost of a dinner for two is $100.

Dinner includes five pounds of crab, our famous spaghetti, salad and garlic bread. You can order an extra pan of spaghetti for $25.

Herald Community Club Chili Cook-off Feb. 23

Herald Community Club will hold its Chili Cook-off and membership drive on Saturday, Feb. 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 11320 Twin Cities Road in Galt. A $5 fee includes entry and membership.

Come enjoy some tasty homemade chili. Enter your prize-winning chili, or just come and taste. Come meet your neighbors and community partners. Social distancing and masks are encouraged.
