Galt Grub Grab food distribution

The Galt Joint Union Elementary School District’s Galt Grub Grab food distributions continue in April and May at Greer and Valley Oaks elementary schools. The boxes of shelf-stable food items are donated by the Sacramento Food Bank and are free to Galt families. The distributions take place at dismissal time.

The Valley Oaks distributions are on Thursdays, May 19 and 26. Valley Oaks is located at 21 C Street.

The Greer distribution is on Tuesday, May 24. Greer is located at 248 W. A Street.

5K for LRHS sports scholarships May 21

The Liberty Ranch Athletic Boosters will hold its third annual 5K Fun Run/Walk on May 21, with proceeds going toward scholarships for Liberty Ranch High School athletes. Check-in starts at 7 a.m., and the run starts at 8 a.m. The event will also feature a raffle. Registration is $35.

Hope for Horses opens new home May 21

Local horse rescue Hope for Horses will hold an event on May 21 to welcome community members to its new location at Reebok Ranch. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Scott Purdum of Advantage Horsemanship will give a demonstration with one of the nonprofit’s horses. On offer will be barbecue, tacos, wine, cornhole and a silent auction, as well as a photo booth with an adoptable horse, Astro. If you would like to sit, please bring portable chairs.

Saturday Market June 4

The city of Galt is hosting a new Saturday Market on the first Saturday of the month through October. The event will take place on the Fourth Street Promenade and last from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors will offer food, produce, fresh flowers, and arts and crafts.

Lodi Moose Lodge car show June 18

Lodi Moose Lodge 634 and Moose Riders will host a car show on June 18. Admission is free. Registration, $40 per vehicle, starts at 9 a.m. and comes with a free lunch. The show is open to classic cars, motorcycles, trucks, vans and hot rods. All net proceeds benefit Cancer Kids of San Joaquin County.

At 11:30 a.m., $5 lunches will be served. A raffle will be held at 1 p.m., and the awards ceremony will follow at 2 p.m. DJ Dennis S will provide entertainment.
