Independence Day Celebration

Galt’s Independence Day celebration will be held on Thursday, July 4, beginning with the seventh annual Officer Tonn 5K Run, to start at 8 a.m., from the Tonn Memorial at City Hall.

The parade will start at 9:30 a.m., from the Galt Market grounds. Entertainment will be provided by Kind of Blue Band. A kid zone will be held from 6-9:30 p.m., at Veterans Field. A fireworks viewing party from the pool will be from 7-10 p.m., at the Gora Aquatic Center, with the fireworks display lighting up at 9:30 p.m. from the Galt Market Grounds.

Bingo in Wilton

The Wilton History Group monthly Bingo Night fundraiser is the first Saturday of each month. Players must be 18 years of age to play and be at the event. Proceeds from Bingo will be divided between the Wilton History Group and the Wilton Community Center nonprofits. Galt Teen Center Carnival

Organizers of the Galt Teen Center will host a summer carnival on Friday, July 12 from 6-9 p.m. at Galt Community Park on Walnut Avenue. Admission is free. For more information, contact Sarah at 209-329-3059.

Sip & Snack at the Mac

Advance tickets are available for $35 to attend the Galt Area Historical Society’s ninth annual Sip & Snack at the Mac, to be held at McFarland Living History Ranch, 8899 Orr Road, on Saturday, July 27 from 6-9 p.m. Live music by Phil & da Pinots will begin at 7 p.m. and finish off the evening at 10 p.m.

Galt Balloon Festival

McFarland Living History Ranch on Orr Road will be the site of the Galt Balloon Festival on Aug. 10-11. Gates will open at 5 a.m. for visitors to watch the hot air balloons launch at sunrise. Tethered balloons will be available for rides at $10 per person, weather permitting. Admission is $10 in advance, $15 at the gate and $10 for VIP parking; children age 5 and under are free. Tickets are available at several local businesses, including the Galt Chamber office, The Galt Herald, Express Type & Graphics, Barsetti Vineyards Tasting Room, The Coffee Shop Bakery and State Farm Insurance. Sesquicentennial celebration Sept. 14

Mark your calendar, you won’t want to miss Galt’s 150th birthday party Sept. 14 in Old Town Galt, hosted by the Galt District Chamber of Commerce. Galt Farm to Fork Dinner

Galt Ag Boosters present the Galt Farm to Fork Dinner in Old Town Galt on Sept. 21, with appetizers at 6 p.m., and dinner at 7 p.m. Cost is $75 per person and benefits the Galt High and Liberty Ranch FFA programs.
