5K Run/Walk for the Hawks
Liberty Ranch Athletic Boosters will hold the second annual Hawks Stadium 5K Run/Walk for the Hawks on Saturday, May 11, with check-in and same day registration at 7 a.m., and the run/walk event starting at 8 a.m. The run course will begin at Liberty Ranch High School, 12945 Marengo Road, in Galt and continue through city streets before finishing at the new Hawks Stadium. Cost is $25 with early registration by April 11 to guarantee a t-shirt, or $35 after April 11 and for same-day registration. Participants will receive a t-shirt, participation medal and other run goodies.
There will also be a raffle with some exciting prizes. More details and tickets will be available soon. Proceeds will benefit student athletes and will fund the annual LRHS Athletic Boosters scholarships.

Community health, job fair
Galt High School and Sacramento Works is providing a free community health and job fair Saturday, May 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the quad of the high school. In addition to free health screenings, resume writing and job application support, healthcare information and local employment opportunities, the event will feature a presentation by Sacramento County Office of Education for parents about students, a vaping and substance abuse program in the main auditorium and a special workshop for seniors called “No plans for college. What’s next after high school?”
Dog Show May 11
The 12th annual Dog Show will be held rain or shine on Saturday, May 11 at Kiwanis Bark Parks from 10 a.m. to noon. Free registration starts at 10 a.m., with the competition at 10:30 a.m., at Monterey Park on the corner of Lake Park Avenue and Monterey Bay Court in Galt.
Categories include best-behaved, best personality, most like owner and best costume. A K-9 demo by Galt PD and McGruff the crime dog & friends will be on hand, along with pet info and advice.

Bayside Church hosts William Jessup Choir
Bayside Church in Galt is excited to announce that the William Jessup Choir and Orchestra will be performing again this year. The group is comprised of over 70 vocalists and a 25-piece orchestra. They feature a wide variety of music, including gospel, a cappella, worship, jazz, and so much more. Wild mustang adoption slated May 18
The Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center’s Wild Horse program will hold is 2019 Spring Adoption on Saturday, May 18 at R3C Ranch at 12270 Bruceville Road, Elk Grove. The meet-and-greet is at 9 a.m. A demonstration will be held at 10 a.m., and adoptions will begin at 11 a.m.

The Galt District Chamber of Commerce will host Galt Food Truck Mania on Saturday, June 1 from 4-8 p.m., on Fourth Street in Old Town Galt.
Food trucks will compete for your patronage on the first Saturday of each month, hoping to entice you to sample their best tastes.
Bingo in Wilton
The Wilton History Group monthly Bingo Night fundraiser is the first Saturday of each month. Players must be 18 years of age to play and be at the event. Proceeds from Bingo will be divided between the Wilton History Group and the Wilton Community Center nonprofits. Eric Leeworthy Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament
The Eric Leeworthy Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament is taking registrations for its 11th annual tournament, which will be held June 8 at The Reserve at Spanos Park. Proceeds will provide scholarships for Galt high schools and the JGANC. The format is a four-person scramble and lunch and a raffle will be held at 1 p.m. The cost is $100 per golfer.
