Live Nativity at Galt Bible Church Dec. 8-10

The Galt Bible Church Live Nativity experience returns as a free community event on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, Dec. 8-10.

Visitors may enter any time between 6:30 and 8 p.m. at 801 Church Street to tour Bethlehem the night Christ was born. All are welcome to attend this family-friendly Christmas remembrance.

Parking lot attendants will guide visitors to convenient parking spaces and to the tour entrance.

Senior Holiday Luncheon Dec. 9

Older adults are invited to a Senior Holiday Luncheon on Friday, Dec. 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The menu will include the infamous barrel-cooked chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans and Spaans Parker House rolls.

The holiday celebration will include a gift drawing and holiday entertainment at the Chabolla Community Center, 660 Chabolla Ave. in Galt. To RSVP, call 209-745-9174. Tickets will be handed out at South County Services, 431 S. Lincoln Way. Reserve your tickets early while supplies last.

 

GAHS holds Mac at Night Dec. 11

With Mac at Night, the Galt Area Historical Society is offering a free opportunity to see McFarland Living History Ranch decorated in holiday lights. Attendees can take free tours of the McFarland house, which is located at 8899 Orr Road. The event is scheduled for Dec. 11, 4-7 p.m. To learn more about the society, visit galthistory.com.

Rotary to give Christmas dinner boxes Dec. 17

To help local families that can’t afford a Christmas meal, Galt Sunrise Rotary Club will distribute Christmas dinner boxes on Dec. 17, 9-11 a.m., at Sunshine Food Pantry, 571 C Street. Galt cemetery district’s Wreaths Across America, Dec. 17

For the first time, Galt-Arno Cemetery District will celebrate National Wreaths Across America Day, at 9 a.m. on Dec. 17. The event, to take place at Galt Cemetery, 14180 Joy Drive, is anticipated to feature a dove release, a vocalist and a moment of silence before wreaths are placed at the graves of service members at the cemetery.

Cosumnes DAR’s Wreaths Across America, Dec. 17

The Rio Cosumnes Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution invites the public to honor local heroes at a Wreaths Across America ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 17 at the East Lawn Memorial Park, 9189 E. Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove. Gates open at 8:30 a.m., and the ceremony begins at 9 a.m. Community members are invited to sponsor a wreath and help place wreaths at veterans’ gravesites. Wilton firefighters’ toy drive through Dec. 21

Wilton Firefighters’ Association is accepting donations for its annual Christmas toy drive. Those who wish to donate may drop off new, unwrapped toys for infants and children up to 11 years old at the fire station at 9800 Dillard Road in Wilton, through Dec. 21, any time the crew is there, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., or at the office Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wilton Garage and Simmen Cycles will also accept donations during normal business hours.

See’s Candies Christmas sale continues to Dec. 24

Friends of the Galt Library will be back this year to sell a Christmas assortment of See’s Candies at the Galt-Marian O. Lawrence Library from 12-6 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays, Nov. 29 to Dec. 24, or as long as supplies last. Proceeds will help support special library programs throughout the next year.
