Galt job fair on Aug. 4

The Galt Job & Resource Fair will take place Aug. 4, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Veteran’s Soccer Field, offering a place for locals to check out career options. The event is sponsored by the California Employment Development Department, Sacramento Works and California Human Development, and the first 75 attendees will receive a food box. Saturday Market Aug. 6

The city of Galt is hosting a new Saturday Market on the first Saturday of the month through October. The event will take place on the Fourth Street Promenade and last from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors will offer food, produce, fresh flowers, and arts and crafts.

Herald Day Aug. 6

The Herald Community Club will host the 42nd annual Herald Day festival on Aug. 6. It is the first time the event will include a car show and cruise. The car show setup begins at 7 a.m. The parade starts at 9 a.m., followed by a live auction at 11 a.m. A live band will perform from 1-4 p.m., and the day concludes with a cruise. Craft vendors and Lions Club bingo will be available all day.

Grief support meetings start Aug. 13

GriefShare, a grief support group, will hold a series of meeting on Saturdays, from Aug. 13 to Nov. 5, at the Galt Seventh-day Adventist Church. Attendees can find help and encouragement after the death of a loved one. Meetings will run 4-6 p.m., and registration is at the door. Friends of NRA fundraiser Aug. 19

County Line Friends of the NRA will host its annual fundraiser on Aug. 19, 5 p.m., at the Lodi Moose Lodge. Individual admission costs $75. Ranging from $175 to $10,000 are various packages, including admission, game entries and raffle tickets to win various guns or a gun safe. The money raised will be used locally to support gun safety and training.

Monthly street cleanup Aug. 20

The Galt Beautification Committee and Youth Commission host a regular street cleanup on the Saturday after the third Thursday of the month. The next cleanup is scheduled for Aug. 20 at 8 a.m. Check the city of Galt Facebook page as the day approaches for the meeting location.

GAHS car show seeks entrants for Aug. 27 event

The Galt Area Historical Society is accepting entries for its annual Car Show at McFarland Living History Ranch on Aug. 27. It is looking for 1970 vehicles or older, including pickups, muscle cars, motorcycles and more.

Registration costs $20. The first 100 cars registered are guaranteed a dash plaque, and all entrants receive a T-shirt, $35 toward an oil change and a free lunch.
