Christmas tree pickup Jan. 9

In cooperation with California Waste Recovery Systems (Cal-Waste), members of local Scouting units will hold their annual Christmas tree pickup service on Saturday, Jan. 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Local Scouts are asking for a donation for the removal of each tree picked up at the curb. This service is a major fundraiser for local Boy Scouts.

Please place your tree, free of decorations, on the curb in front of your home and the boys will pick it up for disposal. Cal-Waste then transports the old trees to one of its facilities where they are recycled for future uses.

Walker Park update meeting Jan. 14

The public is encouraged to attend the Planning Commission Meeting Jan. 14 where changes to the Walker Community Park Master Plan will be discussed. The public meeting will begin at 6 p.m. The general public is encouraged to attend to provide input on the proposed project. Drive-thru Steak & Shrimp Dinner Jan. 16

The Galt Lions Club is planning an “8 is Great” drive-thru steak & shrimp dinner at Littleton Community Center on Saturday, Jan. 16 at 420 Civic Drive in Galt. Cost is $35 per person for an 8 oz. steak, 8 shrimp, penne pasta (with their famous red sauce), salad & roll. Thornton Drive-thru Crab Dinner Jan. 23

Our Lady of Fatima Society of Thornton will hold its Drive-thru Crab Dinner on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, from 3-7 p.m., with pre-orders only to be picked up at Thornton Community Hall, 26596 N. Sacramento Blvd. in Thornton. Cost of a dinner for two is $100.

Dinner includes five pounds of crab, our famous spaghetti, salad and garlic bread. You can order an extra pan of spaghetti for $25.
