Galt library bilingual story time on April 14
The Galt - Marian O. Lawrence Library will hold a bilingual story time on April 14 at 10 a.m., with activities in English and Spanish. The featured book will be “How to Fold a Taco/Cómo doblar un taco” by Naibe Reynoso. Using fantastical characters, the book shows how to fold the Mexican dish and teaches basic motor skills.
The event is part of a monthlong celebration of reading known as Día, also called El día de los niños or El día de los libros (Children’s Day/Book Day).

Apply to Parks & Rec Commission by April 18
The Galt Parks and Recreation Commission has one vacancy with a term ending December 2022. The commission makes recommendations to City Council on parks and rec issues. It meets on the second Wednesday of every other month.

Galt Grub Grab food distribution
The Galt Joint Union Elementary School District’s Galt Grub Grab food distributions continue in April and May at Greer and Valley Oaks elementary schools. The boxes of shelf-stable food items are donated by the Sacramento Food Bank and are free to Galt families. The distributions take place at dismissal time.
The Greer distribution is on Tuesdays, April 19 and 26, and May 17 and 24. Greer is located at 248 W. A Street.
The Valley Oaks distribution is on Thursdays, April 21 and 28, and May 19 and 26. Valley Oaks is located at 21 C Street.
Lions Club craft fair April 23
The Galt Lions Club will host a craft fair on April 23. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., attendees will be able to pick up mimosas and snacks while they stroll the Fourth Street Promenade and view more than 20 vendors.
City of Galt Shred Day April 30
The city of Galt is holding its annual shred event on Saturday, April 30, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at the Galt Market grounds, 905 Meladee Lane. Bring records, statements or anything with personal information on it to the event, for its safe disposal.
Saturday Market held April – October
The city of Galt is hosting a new Saturday Market on the first Saturday of the month, April through October. The event will take place on the Fourth Street Promenade and last from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors will offer food, produce, fresh flowers, and arts and crafts.

5K for LRHS sports scholarships May 21
The Liberty Ranch Athletic Boosters will hold its third annual 5K Fun Run/Walk on May 21, with proceeds going toward scholarships for Liberty Ranch High School athletes. Check-in starts at 7 a.m., and the run starts at 8 a.m. The event will also feature a raffle. Registration is $30 through April 8 and includes a T-shirt. After April 8, registration is $35; T-shirts are not guaranteed for late registrants.
