Alice Rae

John Rae and his second wife, Catherine ‘Kate’ Rae, raised four children in their Galt home on Oak Avenue: Agnes Jessie, Mary Catherine, Alice Regina and John G. Rae Jr. The youngest daughter, Alice Regina Rae, graduated from Galt High School in the class of 1915. After attending the California State Normal School (later to become San Jose State University), she returned to Galt to teach at Galt Grammar School. In the late 1950s, Alice served as a temporary city clerk for the city of Galt. Alice would spend her entire life in the home where she was born in Galt before moving to a convalescent hospital in 1985. Alice passed away in 1988.
