Measure R committee member sought
The city of Galt invites you to apply to serve as a volunteer on the Measure R Citizens’ Oversight Committee. The committee was established to monitor the expenditures of revenue collected for police services and to report to the people and the City Council. For detailed information on the Measure R Citizens’ Oversight Committee, please visit www.ci.galt.ca.us. There are two vacant positions available with terms ending April 2023. Applicants must be a registered voter and reside in the Galt city limits. Applications must be received in the City Clerk’s Office by 5 p.m. July 13.
Senior Resource Center temporary closure
In the interest of the health of volunteers and the public that comes to visit, the Galt Senior Resource Center (GSRC) at the Chabolla Center will be closed, effective until further notice. The center will reopen when mandates are lifted.
Seniors interested in contacting the GSRC during this time may do so by leaving a message on the new GSRC phone, (209) 294-3308 or by leaving a comment on the GSRC email, firstname.lastname@example.org. Messages will be replied to by the end of next business day.
AA 24-hour hotline
For those who would like information on meeting times and locations or need help with an alcohol related problem, please call the local Alcoholics Anonymous 24-hour hotline at 209-745-1525.
Galt Alcoholics Anonymous meets Monday through Friday at noon and at 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday at 8 a.m., noon and 6 p.m. The group meets at 217 Lincoln Way in Galt. Alcoholics Anonymous 24-hour hotline is 209-745-1525.
Nar-Anon Family Group Meetings is an anonymous program for friends and family members who are dealing with drug addiction. Local meetings are held weekly on Saturdays from 9:30-10:30 a.m., at the Galt United Methodist Church, 571 C Street in Galt.
Sunshine Closet is a food closet that helps provide for local residents. Collections of canned food and dry good, nonperishable items, are received at United Methodist Church, 471 C Street in Galt, call to make an appointment for donations, 209-745-4133
The food closet is open on the second Thursday of each month from 8-10 a.m., and on the fourth Thursday from 8-9 a.m., at the United Methodist Church.
In order to continue helping the community, L’Chayim of Galt needs volunteers. If you can fold, measure, sort, count, cut, tag, sew, knit, crochet, visit, drink coffee or would just like to get out of the house a few hours a week, then this women’s drop-in center would love to see you.
