Free In-person Tax Preparation Service
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide offers free tax preparation to anyone of any age, especially if you are 50 or older or can’t afford paid tax preparation. This service will be offered at the Galt Police Department at 455 Industrial Drive in Galt on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Appointments are recommended. Galt Teen Center
Galt Teen Center is opening its doors on Friday, April 3 at the Galt Place, 400 D Street. Volunteers are needed. Office hours are M-W-F from 3-6 p.m. GTC needs onsite staff volunteers, bilingual volunteers, fundraiser volunteers, grant writers, publicity volunteers, event volunteers, mentors and young adult interns. Galt Senior Resource Center
The Galt Senior Resource Center is now open. Regular business hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Wednesday (excluding holidays). The resource center is located at the Chabolla Community Center, 610 Chabolla Avenue. For information, call 745-7332 during regular business hours or leave a message for a return call. Galt Alcoholics Anonymous meets Monday through Friday at noon and at 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday at 8 a.m., noon and 6 p.m. The group meets at 217 Lincoln Way in Galt. Alcoholics Anonymous 24-hour hotline is 209-745-1525.
Weekday senior lunches
Meals on Wheels, in coordination with the city of Galt, offers free lunches Monday through Friday for seniors 60 years and over at the Chabolla Community Center, 600 Chabolla Avenue. Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m.; however, doors open at 9 a.m. for coffee and visiting with friends. Meals are free; however, donations are welcome. For questions, call Crystal Pruitt at 209-745-7332.
For those unable to attend lunch at the Chabolla Center, meals can be delivered to your home. For home delivery, call the Asian Community Center at 916-444-9533.
The Senior Club in Galt welcomes seniors 55+ to join the club, which meets at the Chabolla Community Center, located at 600 Chabolla Ave., in Galt. Member business meetings are the first Monday of every month at 1 p.m. Activities, such as Bingo and movies are held most Mondays and Thursdays at various times – contact the club for specific times and dates. Nar-Anon Family Group Meetings
Nar-Anon Family Group Meetings is an anonymous program for friends and family members who are dealing with drug addiction. Local meetings are held weekly on Saturdays from 9:30-10:30 a.m., at the Galt United Methodist Church, 571 C Street in Galt.
