LRHS Homecoming

The Liberty Ranch High School homecoming activities begin on Monday, Sept. 27 with a powder puff and royalty showcase at 6 p.m. The homecoming parade will be held on Friday, Oct. 1 at 10:50 a.m., with the football games starting at 5:15 p.m. for JV and 7:30 p.m. for varsity.

Recycle household batteries

Galt residents can recycle their household batteries in the green recycle bin located at the front entrance of the Galt Police Department. The green bin is for dry cell household batteries only.

Scarecrow Stroll Oct. 16

A Scarecrow Stroll will be held on Friday, Oct. 16 at 4:30 p.m., prior to the Harvest Market at 5 p.m. Judging for the scariest or funniest scarecrow will take place during the market, with first, second and third place recognition and goodie baskets given to winners.

L’Chayim seeks volunteers

L’Chayim of Galt, 400 Fourth Street, Suite 160, seeks volunteers. Special help is needed Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for its weekly sidewalk sale; however, volunteers for all shifts are needed.

L’Chayim is open Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; the first three Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and some Friday nights from 5-8 p.m. Call 209-744-1143 for more information.

City in Stage 2 water alert

Galt is currently in Stage 2 Water alert, requiring residents to abide by water conservation measures.

Landscape irrigation shall be limited to a maximum of three days per week – residential and business customers with street addresses ending with an even number may irrigate only on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, and customers with street addresses ending with an odd number may irrigate only on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

No irrigation is permitted on Mondays.

Customers should quickly locate and fix all leaks from broken faucets, leaking water lines or faulty sprinkler systems.

Only automatic shutoff nozzles or devices should be used on outside hoses. Running hoses are prohibited.

Draining and refilling of pools, spas, ponds or other such structures shall be allowed only for health, maintenance or structural considerations.

Hazardous waste disposal offered in Elk Grove

Due to lack of use, the city of Sacramento’s household hazardous waste facility is no longer accepting waste from Galt residents.

Instead, Galt residents can dispose of their household hazardous waste at the city of Elk Grove’s special facility, located at 9255 Disposal Lane. For any questions, please contact Galt Public Works at 209-366-7260.

First Thursdays with the City Manager

Galt City Manager Lorenzo Hines is opening his office hours to meet one-on-one with residents of Galt. The first Thursday of each month, citizens will have the opportunity to privately discuss their concerns, ask questions and gather feedback directly from the city manager. Meetings will be held via Zoom and will be limited to 20 minutes each meeting. Call the city of Galt offices to schedule your appointment at 209-366-7130.

GHS all-class reunion

The Galt High Alumni Association (GHAA) 31st annual All-Class Alumni Reunion is scheduled for Oct. 2 (the first Saturday in October) at the Galt Littleton Community Center at 4 p.m. GHA Class of 1971 is celebrating their 50th reunion. With the need to cancel last year’s dinner, the class of 70 will also be honored, as well as those classes celebrating milestone anniversaries of their graduation. The Galt Beautification Committee is asking you to “nominate your neighbor.” Has your neighbor recently completed a yard project? Does your neighbor have the best flowers in town or the best looking yard? The Galt Beautification Committee wants to know. Free COVID testing on Thursdays

Free COVID-19 testing is available every Thursday from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Chabolla Community Center, 600 Chabolla Avenue in Galt. EGHS 40 year reunion slated for this weekend

A class reunion is being planned for Elk Grove High School’s Class of 1981.The three-day event is set for Sept. 24-26, 2021, in Elk Grove.

Nar-Anon Family Group Meetings

Nar-Anon Family Group Meetings is an anonymous program for friends and family members who are dealing with drug addiction. Local meetings are held weekly on Saturdays from 9:30-10:30 a.m., at the Galt United Methodist Church, 571 C Street in Galt.

Sunshine Closet donation sites

Sunshine Closet is a food closet that helps provide for local residents. Collections of canned food and dry good, nonperishable items, are received at United Methodist Church, 471 C Street in Galt, call to make an appointment for donations, 209-745-4133

The food closet is open on the second Thursday of each month from 8-10 a.m., and on the fourth Thursday from 8-9 a.m., at the United Methodist Church.
