The city of Galt Commission on Aging is having a new lap blanket and cozy sock drive for seniors at Dycora, formerly known as Golden Living Center. Drop off a new lap blanket and cozy socks to bring a little Christmas cheer to those who are rehabilitating away from their friends and loved ones. First Baptist seeks Christmas donations
First Baptist Church in Galt is seeking donations to help local families have a Merry Christmas. Asking the community to “come together as one”, church officials are asking for new toys, new clothes (in all sizes), canned goods, turkeys, hams and fixings be dropped off at the church, 653 A Street. Sunrise Rotary seeks donations for food boxes
Galt Sunrise Rotary, in partnership with the Sunshine Food Pantry is hosting its annual Christmas Dinner Box program and is seeking community donations to help fill the food boxes for fellow community members that may be in need this holiday season. The club is accepting monetary donations, as well as donations of mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green beans and cranberry sauce. Donation bins are located at Save Mart, Raley’s and Walmart. Christmas Dinner Box program seeks recipients
In keeping with its love and concern for families in the Galt area, Galt Sunrise Rotary will continue its tradition of providing a holiday meal. Families in Galt are invited to receive a Christmas Dinner Box filled with a turkey and all the trimmings to cook that holiday meal. The boxes will be distributed at the Sunshine Food Pantry, 571 C Street, on Saturday, Dec. 18 from 9-11 a.m. Recipients must sign up to reserve a box. Business License Renewals
Current business licenses expire Dec. 31. Individual renewal notices will be mailed this month. If you do not receive a renewal notice by Dec. 15, contact the city of Galt Finance Department at 209-366-7150. Business license renewals for Galt Market vendors are being processed at the Galt Market office.
Free COVID testing Thursday – Saturday
Free COVID-19 testing is available every Thursday from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Chabolla Community Center, 600 Chabolla Avenue in Galt. Recycle household batteries
Galt residents can recycle their household batteries in the green recycle bin located at the front entrance to the Galt Police Department. The green bin is for dry cell household batteries only.

First Thursdays with the City Manager
Galt City Manager Lorenzo Hines is opening his office hours to meet one-on-one with residents of Galt. The first Thursday of each month, citizens will have the opportunity to privately discuss their concerns, ask questions and gather feedback directly from the city manager. Nar-Anon Family Group Meetings is an anonymous program for friends and family members who are dealing with drug addiction. Local meetings are held weekly on Saturdays from 9:30-10:30 a.m., at the Galt United Methodist Church, 571 C Street in Galt.
Sunshine Closet is a food closet that helps provide for local residents. Collections of canned food and dry good nonperishable items are received at United Methodist Church, 471 C Street in Galt; call to make an appointment for donations, 209-745-4133.
The food closet is open on the second Thursday of each month from 8-10 a.m., and on the fourth Thursday from 8-9 a.m., at the United Methodist Church.
L’Chayim seeks volunteers
L’Chayim of Galt, 400 Fourth Street, Suite 160, seeks volunteers. Special help is needed Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for its weekly sidewalk sale; however, volunteers for all shifts are needed.
