GHS all-class reunion
The Galt High Alumni Association (GHAA) 30th annual All-Class Alumni Reunion is scheduled for Oct. 2 (the first Saturday in October) at the Galt Littleton Community Center at 3:30 p.m. GHA Class of 1971 is celebrating their 50th reunion. With the need to cancel last year’s dinner, the class of 70 will also be honored, as well as those classes celebrating milestone anniversaries of their graduation. Street work ahead
SMUD is making substantial physical improvements to increase reliability to their system grid. The following streets in the Emerald Park/Quail Hollow subdivisions will see work in the street involving conduit runs, junction boxes and tie-ins to existing transformers: A Street, Elm Avenue, Second Street, Emerald Drive, Ramon Street, Ramon Court, Spree Court, Almo Court, Trent Drive, Wildflower Drive, Oberlin Drive, Trudy Way, Lorna Way, Sunshine Drive, Emerald Oak Drive, and Rossi Drive. Work is scheduled to occur through April.
Nominate your neighbor
The Galt Beautification Committee is asking you to “nominate your neighbor.” Has your neighbor recently completed a yard project? Does your neighbor have the best flowers in town or the best looking yard? The Galt Beautification Committee wants to know. Youth commission seeks members
The Galt Youth Commission (GYC) is in search of new student members for the term beginning in May 2021.
GYC is comprised of 10 high school students (9-12th grade) appointed by the City Council to serve as youth advocates and champion community service. The purpose of the GYC is to encourage the youth to participate in activities, stimulate community service, build civic unity, collaborate, and interact with the Galt community.

Egg My House fundraiser
Boy Scout Troop, Crew and Ship 1119 will present its third annual Egg My House fundraising event Easter morning 2021. Choose 25, 50 or 100 filled eggs to be hidden in your front yard Easter morning, along with an Easter basket and note from the Easter Bunny. Packages are $25 for 25 eggs, $35 for 50 eggs and $50 for 100 eggs. In case of rain, eggs will be placed in a basket on your porch. Orders are due by April 2. Free COVID testing on Thursdays
Free COVID-19 testing is available every Thursday from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Chabolla Community Center, 600 Chabolla Avenue in Galt. Testing is offered on a walk-in basis, no appointment needed. This is a self-administered test, which only requires swabbing of the end of the nose.

Sacramento County residents who are 65 years old and older can sign up to be notified as vaccinations become available in Sacramento County. EGHS 40 year reunion slated for September
Save the date – it’s been 40 years and it’s time to celebrate!
A class reunion is being planned for Elk Grove High School’s Class of 1981.The three-day event is set for Sept. 24-26, 2021, in Elk Grove.
New information will be added to these links as the celebration draws near, so be sure to check back for updates.

Nar-Anon Family Group Meetings
Nar-Anon Family Group Meetings is an anonymous program for friends and family members who are dealing with drug addiction. Local meetings are held weekly on Saturdays from 9:30-10:30 a.m., at the Galt United Methodist Church, 571 C Street in Galt.
Sunshine Closet donation sites
Sunshine Closet is a food closet that helps provide for local residents. Collections of canned food and dry good, nonperishable items, are received at United Methodist Church, 471 C Street in Galt, call to make an appointment for donations, 209-745-4133
The food closet is open on the second Thursday of each month from 8-10 a.m., and on the fourth Thursday from 8-9 a.m., at the United Methodist Church.
