Real Life Church offers help for seniors

Volunteers at Real Life Church are willing and able to take on shopping responsibilities for seniors in the community who may not be able to venture out on their own. The volunteers will pick up the shopping list and funds and deliver the needed items back to the home. If you are in need of a shopping trip, contact Ashley at 310-709-4078.

Senior Resource Center temporary closure

In the interest of the health of volunteers and the public that comes to visit, the Galt Senior Resource Center (GSRC) at the Chabolla Center will be closed, effective through April 30 or until further notice. The center will reopen when mandates are lifted.

Seniors interested in contacting the GSRC during this time may do so by leaving a message on the new GSRC phone, (209) 294-3308 or by leaving a comment on the GSRC email, galtseniorresctr@gmail.com. Messages will be replied to by the end of next business day.

AA 24-hour hotline

For those who would like information on meeting times and locations or need help with an alcohol related problem, please call the local Alcoholics Anonymous 24-hour hotline at 209-745-1525.

Alcoholics Anonymous

Galt Alcoholics Anonymous meets Monday through Friday at noon and at 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday at 8 a.m., noon and 6 p.m. The group meets at 217 Lincoln Way in Galt. Alcoholics Anonymous 24-hour hotline is 209-745-1525.

Nar-Anon Family Group Meetings

Nar-Anon Family Group Meetings is an anonymous program for friends and family members who are dealing with drug addiction. Local meetings are held weekly on Saturdays from 9:30-10:30 a.m., at the Galt United Methodist Church, 571 C Street in Galt.

Sunshine Closet donation sites

Sunshine Closet is a food closet that helps provide for local residents. Collections of canned food and dry good, nonperishable items, are received at United Methodist Church, 471 C Street in Galt, call to make an appointment for donations, 209-745-4133

The food closet is open on the second Thursday of each month from 8-10 a.m., and on the fourth Thursday from 8-9 a.m., at the United Methodist Church.

L’Chayim volunteers

In order to continue helping the community, L’Chayim of Galt needs volunteers. If you can fold, measure, sort, count, cut, tag, sew, knit, crochet, visit, drink coffee or would just like to get out of the house a few hours a week, then this women’s drop-in center would love to see you.

Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The shop is located on Fourth Street in Suite 160 between D and E streets. For more information, call 209-744-1143.

L’Chayim Boutique and Gift Shop

L’Chayim of Galt helps make rag quilts for the needy in our community. Kits are available for home seamstresses to complete on their own time, or teachers are available Wednesdays to help with the quilts and have knowledge of rag quilt construction. Machines are available to use at L’Chayim.

L’Chayim received a wonderful donation of flannel, child-themed prints and other prints at affordable prices. A limited supply of corduroy and upholstery fabric will be $1 a yard.

L’Chayim is located at 400 D Street, Suite 160 (entrance on Fourth Street). Visit the boutique Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
