Darrell Pearson

In one of the many early Fourth of July celebrations in Galt, Darrell Pearson rides his horse, Daisy. Darrell’s father John grew up and worked on a farm in the Liberty area south of Galt. The Pearsons moved to Contra Costa County in 1900, where John became a shipping clerk for the Southern Pacific Railroad. Growing up, Darrell came back to visit his grandparents, William and Mary Pearson. This photo was taken during one of his visits. Parades in Galt were extremely popular. The Galt Area Historical Society has numerous pictures of parades taken over the years.
