Maude Ferguson Ritz

Galt socialite Maude Ferguson was born in Galt in 1878 and lived here her entire life. Her father, James Ferguson, was a local building contractor. Maude served in the Galt Post Office for 12 years before she married Galt businessman, Frank Ritz, in 1913 and together they raised two daughters, Cleora and Martha. She inherited the T.S. Ferguson Lumber Company after the death of her brother Thomas Swift Ferguson. Maude Ritz owned and operated a Tokay grape vineyard across Dry Creek from Galt. She was a founding member of the Chabolla Parlor of the Native Daughters of the Golden West in Galt.
