June is shaping up to be an exciting month for anyone looking for fun community events, with city of Galt planning four family-friendly activities.

On Saturday, June 4, comes the third installment of the Saturday Market. Running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fourth Street, the event will have the theme of “Country & Western Fun.” Promotional materials promise a barbecue competition, wine barrel races, strolling cowboys and cowgirls, shopping, and live music.

On Friday, June 10, swing by Veterans Soccer Field to catch a showing of “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” the third movie in the Marvel series starring Tom Holland as the friendly neighborhood web shooter and Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange. The Movies in the Park series will continue once a month through September. Gates open at 6 p.m. Admission is free.

On Saturday, June 11, the band Whisky Kiss will bring their take on pop and classic country rock songs to Veterans Field for the city’s Sounds of Summer Concert Series. Food trucks will be on site. Admission is $5 at the door, and children enter for free.

On Sunday, June 12, follow the Yellow Brick Road to Galt Community Park, which will play host to a pop-up production of “The Wizard of Oz.” Changing Faces Theater Company, a Lodi-based troupe, will mount the play. The free performance begins at 6:30 p.m.

Veterans Soccer Field is located at 900 Caroline Ave, and Galt Community Park is at 1000 Walnut Ave. Attendees of the movie screening, concert or play are advised to bring chairs or a blanket to sit on.
