Miss Helen Mollring became the bride of Mr. James Grimes at a ceremony performed in Reno Easter Sunday, April 5, 1942. Both are Galt High School graduates, class of 1935.

Last week Mr. Victor Stefan sold the stock and fixtures of his store to Mr. Washington of Lockeford. The new owner also operates a grocery and meat market in Lockeford.

April 11, 1952

Jack Blair Jr., bookkeeper and accountant for Tony’s Meat Market and Locker Storage plant, was swept into office as the new Galt city clerk by an overwhelming margin in Tuesday’s municipal election.

Terry, the new son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Patterson of Galt, won the honor of being the first baby to see the light of day at Lodi Memorial Hospital. Young Terry, who weighed 8½ pounds, arrived at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Dr. V.E. Greer helped make it an all-Galt show. He was in charge of bringing Terry into the world.

April 12, 1962

Galt voters, casting ballots at the municipal election Tuesday, returned two incumbents, Harold Williams and Robert Biederman, and elected one newcomer, Wayne Patterson, to City Council seats. Fifty-nine percent of Galt’s registered voters cast ballots.

Gustav Vetter, 24, of Galt, was returning home from Sloughhouse on Sunday, April 8, at 6 p.m. when his Volkswagen blew a back tire between Apricot and Quince lanes on Dillard Road, rolled over three times and landed in a field owned by Mr. and Mrs. Bernie Betz. Vetter was thrown clear, the car narrowly missing him the last time it turned over. Although Vetter was badly bruised, X-rays revealed no broken bones.

April 13, 1972

Incumbents Mayor Robert Lawrence and John Enjalran were unseated Tuesday as former Galt Mayor Robert Biederman and former councilman Ron Jacobsen won the two hard-fought city council posts. Incumbents Jacqui Davy, treasurer, and Berniece Shelley, city clerk, were re-elected.

Stan Rouppet, a southpaw, and Gary Pellandini, a right-hander, teamed up to pitch a no-hit ball game for Galt High School against Dixon, Friday afternoon. Pellandini started, went three innings, struck out five and walked two. Rouppet went the other four innings, KO’d 10, walked three.

April 8, 1982

Seven candidates are running for three seats on the Galt City Council in this coming Tuesday’s election. The candidates are Galt firefighter Steve Denton, former Galt Mayor Cedro Casado, retired Galt High School District superintendent Orvell Fletcher, Planning Commissioner Luis Urban, Galt High School Vice Principal Walt Denny, and incumbents Don Prachar and Bob Dunnett.

Tara Bernal of Valley Oaks School won a red ribbon, the second highest award, at the Cal Expo Science Fair. Craig Hoffman of Fairsite School was also a red ribbon winner at Cal Expo with his “Different Walkways” entry.
