At last night’s high school trustees’ meeting, incumbents Robert Nichols and Egbert Morris were reelected without opposition and, for the grammar school, William McEnerney was elected. Fred W. Thomas, who has served on the grammar school board for the past six years, decided not to be a candidate this year.

June 10, 1949

Mrs. Alyce B. Houck, Mrs. Helene K. Mingo and Mrs. Leone Coombes were initiated into the Rei Rebekah Lodge No. 132.

Martin Cabalzar, principal of the Galt Elementary School, reported yesterday that starting next fall the school will be divided into a Galt Primary School for children in kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade; and the regular elementary school for the other grades. The primary school will be located in the old grammar school. Mrs. Meryl Hart of Galt will be principal of the new school.

June 11, 1959

Thomas Jennings Cooper, 62, of Galt, was injured Tuesday morning when his car collided with a truck at the corner of Bruella and Peltier roads. The truck was driven by George Lee Moore, 19, also of Galt.

Repeating wedding vows May 16 were Karen Joyce Loring of Modesto and Ernest Immoos of Galt.

June 12, 1969

Mrs. Peter Pavitt was elected president of the Galt area Chamber of Commerce at a luncheon meeting at the Galt Bowling Lanes. Frank Kluss was selected as vice president, Art Heinle as treasurer.

Linda Jean Patton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Patton, and Spec. 4 Gary C. Kunz, son of Charles Kunz, were married June 6 at First Baptist Church in Galt with Rev. David Milligan officiating.

Rebecca Jeanne Georgi became Mrs. Michael Huggins in a double ring ceremony May 24 in the Chapel of the Bells, Reno. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Georgi of Herald. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Obert Huggins of Galt.

Miss Juanita Bentz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Bentz of Galt, and Michael Ray Stevens, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Stevens of Atoka, Oklahoma, were united in marriage in the Galt Bible Church May 10.

Carol Jean Strange of Galt and Carl Warren Bowling of Manteca joined the just wed ranks, when they recited nuptial vows May 23 at the Church of the Nazarene in Manteca.

June 14, 1979

Shelly Contos, 18, was named Miss Galt at the Miss Galt Pageant, held Tuesday night at the Galt High School auditorium. Named to serve on her court were Susan Monroe and Cathy Harris. Linda Bennett received the Miss Congeniality award and Miss Monroe a special talent award.

News of the engagement of Cynthia Marie Kranzler and Michael Thomas McDonald was received in the mail by friends and family. The bride-elect, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Art Kranzler, is a student at Delta College. The groom-elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. T.E. McDonald of Galt and also attends Delta College.
