Rev. B. Errol Parish arrived with his family Tuesday from Oakdale. Rev. Parish will conduct services at the Galt Community Methodist Church in the future … Rev. and Mrs. B.W. Lowry were guests of honor last Sunday evening at a social given in the basement of the local Methodist Church. They left the early part of the week for Yuba City where they will make their home.

Mrs. Rowena Evers is recovering from a tonsillectomy performed in a Lodi hospital last Monday. Her son, Pat Evers, underwent an operation for appendicitis the previous week at the same hospital.

Announcement was made this week by the Lodi Memorial Mausoleum and Mortuary Association of the official opening of the Galt Funeral Home at 149 Fourth St…A tentative date for an ‘open house’ celebration at the new Galt Mission Chapel has been set on Sunday, July 13, it was announced yesterday by Mr. and Mrs. Samuel D. Salas, owners. It is located at the corner of B and Seventh streets.

Miss Dorothy “Snookie” Schauer, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Schauer of Galt, was honored Tuesday afternoon with a birthday party for her 7th birthday at her home on D Street. Small fry present were Patty Tweith, Terry and Charles Heinrich, Jerry Willyard, Barbara Willyard, Michael Stiehr, Rodney Goehring, Barbara Morris, Bonnie Schauer, Susan Mollring, Judy Engel, Karl Koellman, Howard Wegat, Janet Cabalzar, Terry and Toni Olson and Lois Schauer.

The Valley Veterinary Service will be moving to their new location on Boessow Road just off Highway 99 on July 9, Dr. David Low announced this week. Their present location is on Lincoln Way.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mahon (Sue Bottimore) are the parents of a baby girl born June 23 and named Susan. She weighed 8 pounds 7 ounces.

Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class Robert Fawcett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack R. Fawcett Sr. of Galt, was presented his Aircrewman’s Wings after completing ground and in-flight training at the Coast Guard Air Station, San Francisco.

July 1, 1982

Twenty-year-old Lisa Smith was named Rodeo Queen of the Galt Community Festival at the Queen Coronation dinner and dance last Saturday. Miss Smith won by one point against Jenny Plate, who was named first princess. Debbie Hayes was named second princess and Cindy Meyer was named Miss Congeniality. Points were based on modeling and poise, speech, personality and horsemanship.

Miss Smith was the recipient of many prizes, including her crown and a $250 belt buckle. Special guests at the Coronation were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Olsen, owners of Robinsons, along with others.
