Miss Patricia Monseth, a popular young lady of the community, was victorious in the contest for determining Queen of the Alta Mesa Fair. Attendants will be the Misses Helen Hobday, Delores Brunmeier and Anabelle Billick.

Mrs. Mildred Pullen, local piano teacher, presented Virginia Winn in a studio recital at her home north of Galt Wednesday evening. Virginia is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Winn of Galt. She was assisted by her sister, Dorothy Winn, who rendered vocal selections during the program.

Aug. 24, 1951

The Youth Choir of the Community Methodist Church enjoyed a picnic at Elk Grove Park last Thursday with its leader Miss Joy Ruf. Members attending were Charlene Hayenga, Joanne Schoellerman, Janice Vossler, Darlene Listini, Erna Mae Pahl, Edith Ratlief and Joan Vossler.

Wesley Barquist, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Barquist, was promoted to Pfc. rating in Korea where he is now stationed and is also an honor guard at Kaesong, Korea at the U.N. Peace talks.

Army Pvt. Jackie R. Kenton, whose wife Rosemarie and parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Kenton live in Thornton, recently arrived in Germany and is now a member of the 537th Ordnance Co. in Schweinfurt. He attended Galt High School.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Don Weathers of Clarksburg a daughter, Treis Colleen, Aug. 16 at Mercy Hospital, Sacramento, weighing 8 pounds 11 ounces. Grandparents include Mr. and Mrs. Bill Weathers of Galt.

Bruce Goldsmith, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Curby Goldsmith of Galt, is leaving for San Francisco State College for a two-day orientation before flying to Sweden on Aug. 29 where he will spend the next year at Uppsala University, north of Stockholm. He will be studying under the junior year Scandinavian Areas Studies program exclusively for students of California state colleges.

Mr. and Mrs. Ron Marriott of Galt are the proud parents of a baby boy born Aug. 20 at Lodi Memorial Hospital. The young man weighed 8 pounds 14 ounces and has been named Gregory Roy … Mr. and Mrs. Steve Pullen, Galt, are the proud parents of a baby girl, Lisa Marie, born Aug. 23 at Lodi Memorial Hospital. Little Lisa weighed 7 pounds 13 ounces … A 7-pound 6-ounce baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Alan Baroni of Thornton on Aug. 15. The happy parents have named him Gregory Allen.

Michelle Louise George of Galt, and Michael Allen Barnard of Clements exchanged wedding vows, July 18. Michelle is the daughter of Eugene and Diane George of Galt. Michael’s parents are Jack and Loree Barnard of Clements.

Wendy Graves of Lodi and Terry Gates of Herald exchanged vows on June 28 at 2 p.m. in the Galt Seventh-day Adventist Church. Pastor Wes McCoy presided over the ceremony.
