April 19, 1940
Eugene R. Maynard of Galt, son of Mr. Emmerson B. Maynard, has enlisted in the U.S. Army at Ft. McDowell on April 4 for assignment to the 3rd Medical Regiment, Camp Ord, Calif.
Mrs. Nels Bojet entertained the Colony Ladies Aid at her home on Thursday. There were 17 members and three visitors present.
April 21, 1950
Eugene Kenefick, secretary-manager of the Sacramento County Fair in Galt since its beginning 15 years ago, resigned from that position Tuesday evening at a meeting of the board of directors.
The long-awaited Southern Sacramento County Irrigation District was formed at a meeting March 18 at Elk Grove, which was attended by Eric Spiess and Charles Nichols of Galt. Spiess will represent the Galt area, and Mr. North of the Galt Farm Bureau will serve as secretary.
April 21, 1960
Bennie T. Casado was unanimously reappointed mayor of Galt at a special meeting held Tuesday night at the city hall.
Mr. and Mrs. Lester Henkes, Phillip, 15, and Rachel, 12, of Herald moved Tuesday to 3rd Street in Galt, next to the Pentecostal Church.
Bill Sartini was elected student body president for the year 1960-61 at Galt High School.
April 23, 1970
Galt has a new mayor, the fifth person to fill the seat in the city’s 24 years of being incorporated. Tuesday night at their regular meeting, the new Galt City Council elected Bob Lawrence to sit as mayor for the city. The vote was unanimous.
The Galt FFA Chapter Sweetheart, Linda Dover, won the contest for FFA State Sweetheart at a state competition in Fresno over the weekend.
April 24, 1980
An Acampo man was knocked unconscious and robbed as he walked down Lincoln Way Thursday night, April 17. In a similar incident, a prescription pill bottle containing 16 Valium tablets was stolen from a Sacramento man at the Galt A&W Restaurant.
Inez Weigand was honored for 50 years of service and Lochie Wilder for 25 years of service to Valley Oaks Grange at the last meeting of the Grange on April 16.
