With a 100 percent turnout of exhibitors and guests, Future Farmers of America exhibited 18 purebred Jersey Holstein calves last Saturday in the park at 15th and C streets, Sacramento. Solyo Bessie Ideal, Holstein calf of Herman Seibel, Galt, won the grand championship award after having taken first place in its classification.

Mr. and Mrs. John Fox, Mrs. Harry Whitcher and Miss Virginia Tufts visited the S.D. Hill home Monday afternoon where they attended a birthday party honoring Mrs. Pearl Pedersen.

Sept. 12, 1952

Miss Alice Albertini, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Albertini of Herald, received word this week that her home furnishing project has been judged the best in Sacramento County. She is a member of the Herald 4-H Club.

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Eustace Maestretti of Clay are the proud parents of a daughter, Ramona Rae, born Sept. 8 at Lodi Memorial Hospital. She weighed 8 pounds 7 ounces and arrived at 4:30 p.m.

Marilyn and Susan Bottimore and Bertha and Rose Liebig judged clothing and shoes at the California State Fair last Saturday in the 4-H judging contest.

Sept. 13, 1962

Enrico Listini and Wayne Patterson, incumbents, were returned to office as directors of the Galt Sanitary District during an election held Tuesday. The two Galt businessmen won over Joe Lindberg and Glenn McFarland who were also seeking the two posts on the board.

Galt High School sophomore Bob Posey, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Posey, has received notification from the Federal Communications Commission that he passed the test to secure an amateur radio license, general class with call number WA6VCX.

Sept. 14, 1972

Mrs. Lillian Goldsmith of Galt was honored by the Galt 4-H Club Saturday night for “being an outstanding 4-H leader for the past 25 years.”

Just call them “Doctor” Dick Sartini and George Fox. These two Galt firemen delivered a bouncing baby girl Wednesday morning in the ambulance at the C Street overcrossing. The firemen received a call from Mrs. Donny Gore at 6:10 a.m., and at 6:20 the two firemen were stopped at the C Street overcrossing and delivering the baby girl, the first for the Gore family.

Sept. 9, 1982

Two juveniles are in custody and one sought as Galt police solve a rash of at least 11 burglaries which have occurred in the past few weeks in the area of Second to Fifth streets and Elm to F streets. According to Sgt. Doug Matthews, one suspect has confessed to nine burglaries, and the other to two, with one of the two being placed at the scene of the third burglary.

Rosellen Maestretti, Rei Rebekah Lodge 132’s talented and efficient public relations chairman, recently arranged for Rebekah participation on the Channel 6 Telethon. Rebekahs enjoyed a studio tour and raised over $10,000 in pledges for KVIE.
