The new Galt post office opened for business Monday morning at the corner of 5th and C streets. Postmaster is Mrs. Cleo Mollring and she has four clerks: Mrs. Rowena Evers, Birdie Caldwell, Helen Sobey and Isabel Marengo. Rural carriers are Mr. Edwin Madsen, Robert Barber and R.C. Greer.
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hessler are the proud parents of a daughter born Oct. 2 at a Lodi hospital weighing 8 pounds 11 ounces and named Sharon Ann.

Mrs. Tillie Schauer entertained the Junior Women’s Club Wednesday evening. Present were Mrs. Boots Sharp, June Diede, Marge Weathers, Dorothy Pearson and Evelyn Tobeck.
Mr. and Mrs. C.T. Shelton of San Diego moved to 318 N. Lincoln Way a week ago last Friday.

Jane Szatkowski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Szatkowski of Lincoln Park, Mich., and William F. Dohn, son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Dohn of Galt, exchanged nuptial vows at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Lincoln Park.

The Canadian and Mexican borders will be joined by 1,380 continuous miles of highway tomorrow (Friday), Oct. 12 at 11 a.m. when the last link of Interstate 5 is opened over the Mokelumne River near Thornton.
Walter Froehlich, former Galt police chief, and Cedro Casado, former mayor of Galt, were honored by the city council in special ceremonies last week as the city of Galt held an open house for its new city administration building and community center.
