The Galt Women’s Civic Improvement Club held a special meeting Tuesday afternoon when the following officers were installed for the coming year: Mrs. Lida B. Ward, president; Mrs. Charles Mabee, vice president; Mrs. Edith Smith, secretary; Mrs. John Alves, treasurer.
Born to Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Grinstead of Galt Friday, Jan. 3, 1941, a son, named Clyde Wayne. Weight: 7 pounds 12 ounces. Dr. V.E. Greer of Galt was the attending physician.

Dec. 29 at 9 p.m. Miss Dolores Morris and Mr. Charles Van Steyn were united in marriage at the Brookfield First Missionary Baptist Church in Oakland. Both the bride and the groom graduated from the Galt High School last June.
New officers for 1951 for the Women’s Civic Club members are: Mrs. Gladys Wood, president; Mrs. Jeanette Preston, vice president; Mrs. Lucy Patterson, secretary; and Mrs. Bernice Schollerman, treasurer.
Jan. 12, 1961
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Miller have retired from operating their dairy on Harvey Road and have moved to Coopers Corner. The dairy is now being operated by Mr. and Mrs. Al Miller and their two sons, Renie and Terry.
Linda Goehring was elected president of the To-Wan-Ka group, Campfire Girls, at a meeting held last week. Other officers chosen include Lucky Watts, vice president; Brenda McKeehan, secretary; Rosemary Bowling, treasurer; and Julie Menicucci, scribe.

A retirement dinner for Constables Louis J. Baroni and Joseph L. Simoni will be held Tuesday, Jan. 16 at the Golden Acorn restaurant in Galt. Judge “Buster” May is chairman of the event. Baroni has been in law enforcement for 38 years and is currently the constable for the Elk Grove and Galt areas. Simoni has been in law enforcement 40 years.
Gary B. Hoffman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Verne Hoffman Jr. of Acampo, has been named a distinguished military cadet in his Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps unit at Brigham Young University. He is a 1965 graduate of Galt High School.

A female armed robber held up an attendant at the Regal Gas Station on C Street last Friday night. The suspect approached the attendant in an island booth. She pointed a small, blue, steel handgun at the attendant and demanded money. The attendant complied, handing over $60. The suspect then ordered the employee to kneel and remain in a crouched position.
A proposed 40-acre subdivision at the southwest corner of Spring Street and Midway Avenue obtained unanimous approval from the Board of Supervisors. The property, owned by David Mansur, is currently zoned A-2 for two-acre residential lots.
Janet Marie Grennell of Herald and Robert William Beam of Sacramento, became husband and wife when they recited nuptial vows Nov. 22 at the Galt Bible Church.
