Charles W. Hayenga of Valley Oaks Grange, Galt, was elected master of the Sacramento Pomona Grange No. 2 at a meeting Saturday night in the Odd Fellows Temple, Sacramento. Pomona Grange is composed of members of all the Grange organizations in Sacramento County.

Pvt. Darrell Winn, recently released from Letterman Hospital in San Francisco, has now returned to his home here. He has received an honorable discharge and plans to take up his duties as dairyman and poultryman.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Barber of Thornton Saturday, Nov. 29, a son, named Robert James.

Dec. 7, 1951

Petitions seeking the recall of three directors of the Galt Sanitary District and ordering a new election were submitted to the Sanitary Board of Governors at the regular meeting Wednesday evening in city hall. There were 54 names of Galt persons on the petition, the bulk of them being residents in the annexed areas of the sanitary district.

A new service station was opened in Galt this week by Ed Reiswig, former owner of the Sunshine Café. Reiswig has leased the site at A Street and Lincoln Way owned by Robinson’s Feed Stores and will handle Union Oil products.

Dec. 7, 1961

The Galt Chamber of Commerce elected officers, naming Ben Salas president for the new year. He succeeds Gene Kenefick. Assisting Salas will be Eric Spiess, vice president; Harold Beshey, secretary; and Art Heinle, treasurer.

Four Galt Cub Scouts became eligible for Boy Scouts in the Webelos graduation ceremony held last Thursday. Receiving Webelos certificates were Mike Huggins, John Stamp, Kenny Hill and Don Wharton.

Dec. 9, 1971

Robert Haynes Posey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Posey of Galt and a graduate of the local schools, will receive a Master of Business Administration in marketing, insurance and transportation from the College of Business Administration at the University of Oregon.

Navy Fireman Wesley A. Breitmaier of Galt has graduated from Recruit Training at the Naval Training Center, San Diego. He is a 1971 graduate of Galt High School.
