The Galt Herald is going to bring you wider coverage of news in the Greater Galt District. Mrs. Isaac Fast is to be The Galt Herald representative in the Twin Cities District and Mrs. Pauletta Etcheverry is going to be the representative in the Valensin District and for Grange news. They join Anne Evans, Galt, and Mrs. E.E. Monseth, Herald.

Galt High School football destiny is now in the hands of a new coach, Willis F. (Bill) Wolcott of Denison, Iowa. Returning lettermen are Wally Case, Reinhold Pahl, Herman Singh, Donald Lang, Edwin Summers, Henry Hauschildt and Pat Head.

Aug. 20, 1959

Mr. and Mrs. O.B. Diede were hosts at a potluck barbecue dinner at their home Sunday evening for Junior Women’s Club members and their husbands. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ted Schauer, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Sharp, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Pearson, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Reed, and Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Arrants.

Aug. 21, 1969

Thornton Chamber of Commerce booth took the top award for the most attractive booth and a first place trophy in their division at the San Joaquin County Fair.

Gordon Yenokida, former student body president and 1967 graduate from Galt High School, has been granted undergraduate honors by the College of Agricultural Sciences, UC Berkeley.

Aug. 23, 1979

Private funeral services have been held for Robert Brewer Lawrence, a resident of Galt for almost 30 years, who died Aug. 18. Mr. Lawrence’s civic services included vice mayor and mayor of Galt, and general chairman of the Galt Centennial in 1969. He was a member of the Sacramento County Board of Education, including chair for seven years, and spearheaded the formation of the Sacramento Regional Occupation Program in 1969.
