The committeemen of the Boy Scout Troop, which is sponsored by the Galt I.O.O.F. Lodge, officially appointed Harold Stephens to act as a member of the committee. He joins Roger Caldwell, Charles Smith, A. Quenell, Art Mollring and Oscar Doering.

Feb. 3, 1950

Candlelight ceremonies last Thursday evening in Morris Chapel on the College of the Pacific campus united Miss Darlene Marengo of Galt and Don McCormick, COP senior.

Mr. and Mrs. John Aschwanden are the proud parents of a son born Sunday, Jan. 29 at 6:15 a.m. at the Buchanan Hospital, named Carl John … Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Bender are the parents of twin daughters born at Mason Hospital on Jan. 30. One arrived at 6:40 a.m. and weighed 4 pounds 3 ounces. The second was born at 6:53 a.m. and weighed 5 pounds 4 ounces. They have not yet been named.

Feb. 4, 1960

Galt City Councilmen, meeting in regular session last week, adopted a resolution unanimously opposing the proposed consolidation of counties and cities under one central government as proposed by the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors.

Thinking they were going out for a Chinese dinner with Mr. and Mrs. George Fox, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Arrants stepped out through the front door of their new home on 6th Street last Sunday evening only to be greeted by many friends and neighbors who had arrived for an old-fashioned housewarming.

Feb. 5, 1970

Mayor Bob Biederman Tuesday night at the regular council meeting submitted a letter saying he had reconsidered and would not resign but would finish out his term of office.

L.R. deGallery, Pacific Telephone manager for Galt, today said the company’s $304,000 construction program for Galt will include elimination of the 10-cent toll charges between Galt and Thornton.
