At the student election on May 2 at the Galt High School, Howard Wegat was elected student body president. Also elected were Robert Biederman, vice president; Elma Heinrich, treasurer; Grace Saner, secretary; and representatives at large, Harold Erich, Alston Daniels and Ada Nunally.
The newly remodeled and redecorated Wegats’ 417 Night Club & Cocktail Lounge will have a grand opening next Wednesday night when an orchestra will furnish music for free dancing.

A very colorful ceremony of institution and installation of officers for Galt Memorial Auxiliary 7637, VFW was held last Saturday evening in the Grange Hall. Mary Johnson was installed as president.
Mr. and Mrs. George Lenzi of Galt are the parents of a daughter, Betty Jean, born at Buchanan Hospital on May 1. She weighed 7 pounds 2½ ounces and arrived at 12:29 a.m. … Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Miller, Galt, are the parents of a son, Larry Doyle, born at Buchanan Hospital on April 30. He weighed 6 pounds 12 ounces and arrived at 6:30 p.m.

Harold and John Hepper, owners of the Galt Furniture Co., are holding their grand opening this weekend. They are in their new store on C Street, across from Mar-Val Food Store.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pickrell were hosts at dinner and bridge Saturday evening for Messrs. and Mmes. Robert Dunnett, Harry Propp and Roy Herburger.

In their first major action since assuming office, the new Galt City Council unanimously approved the annexation of approximately 30 acres into the city at a special meeting Monday evening, April 27. The area lies north of Pringle Avenue along the freeway extending to the south side of Oak Street.
May 8, 1980
The Galt Furniture Store, located on C Street has opened its doors again, but with new owners, Ray Ewing and Doug Parker.
Brad Shinn, 17, was recognized for his outstanding sheep enterprise at the recent State FFA Convention at San Luis Obispo where he was presented the FFA Sheep Production Proficiency Award medal and certificate for being a reginal winner. His enterprise last year included 50 ewes, 2 rams and 120 lambs.
