Mrs. C.C. Wood and Mrs. C.R. Mabee will be hostesses at an afternoon card party Feb. 16 to be given at the Women’s Civic Club house.

Mrs. Laurence Littleton is confined to the hospital in Stockton with a severe case of pneumonia. A baby daughter was born to them last week.

Miss Loretta Ladd is confined to her home with influenza.

Feb. 10, 1950

President of the Galt Gun Club Glenn McFarland today announced that world-renowned William Foster of Rio Vista will be a guest of the Galt Gun Club next Thursday evening at the Grange Hall. Foster owns and operates a nightclub in Rio Vista that is known for Game Trophies that he has bagged throughout the world.

Mr. George Kenefick should be given a prize for his good work in ridding the countryside of coyotes. He got another one, bringing the total up to five now.

Feb. 11, 1960

The Olympic Torch, which was brought to Los Angeles from Norway, stopped in this area yesterday morning en route from Stockton to Sacramento. The torch was carried from Thornton by Galt High School runners to one mile south of Franklin Road. Galt runners were Rod Erich, Nick Peart and Tom Reich.

Rose Liebig, Yvonne Miller and Vickie Sturmer were hostesses at a bridal shower given for Carol Hobday at the Alta Mesa Hall on Jan. 22.

Feb. 12, 1970

The Galt Civitan Club’s hot stove banquet, featuring San Francisco Giant pitching ace Gaylord Perry, was a big success Tuesday.

Spec. 5 Otis Brookins and Sgt. Larry Brookins were honored at a belated Christmas dinner held recently at the Pizza Palace. Larry returned home Dec. 30 after spending 31 months in Germany, and Otis returned home Jan. 12 after a one-year tour of duty in Vietnam. They are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Stan Brookins.
