Members of the Galt Businessmen’s Association met Tuesday noon at the Sunshine Café for their regular monthly meeting. Eric Spiess suggested the association work with the Chamber of Commerce in promoting the idea of city carrier mail delivery in Galt.

Mr. and Mrs. Allen Trueman and their small son Allen moved into their new home at B and 3rd streets, Galt, Saturday. The house, built by Mrs. Frank Ritz of Galt, has been remodeled from an eight-room to a six-room house.

Oct. 15, 1959

Nine from Galt have been attending a sewing class taught at Lodi High School each Wednesday evening: Bonnie Gross, Wanda Steiner, Cleo Mollring, Shirley Turner, Pearl Otto, Zelpha Williams, Harriet Breitmaier, Phyllis Bottimore and Dorothy McFarland.

Eight-pound 10-ounce Timothy Vaughn Benge was born to Mr. and Mrs. Cleborn Benge, Galt, Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 9:45 a.m. at Lodi Memorial Hospital.

Oct. 23, 1969

Dixie Johnson, spokesman for the Citizens committee “to eliminate the sewer service charge”, reported to the Galt City Council that she and her group now had 700 signatures on the petition to eliminate the charge.

Meladee Spiess, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Spiess of Galt appeared in two roles in the Readers’ Theatre productions at Chico State Oct. 17, 18 and 19.

A possible labor dispute has terminated the position of the Thornton Rural Fire Protection District fire chief, Chief Bruno Mori revealed to the Galt Herald.

City of Galt water rates will be doubled for all users by about Jan. 1 if present plans of the City Council stay in effect.
