Carl is in the X-ray service … Al Willyard, son of Mrs. Alice Willyard, is here from Farragut, Idaho for 10 days … Clinton Kast, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Kast, arrived Monday night from Tucson, Ariz., where he is stationed with the Army Air Corps … Louie Listini will leave Saturday for Camp White, Ore., where he is stationed with the famous 91st division … Jerry Watson, who is with the Navy at Farragut, has been here several days with his parents on a 10-day furlough.

The quick arrest of a Galt dairy farmer and an 18-year-old youth may have broken up a juvenile marijuana ring in this area, police reported. Arrested at his ranch just west of Twin Cities Road was Charles Wheeler, 26. Arrested earlier in the day was Dare Lee Mund, 18.

Mr. and Mrs. Livio Ceccarini of Galt are the proud parents of a daughter named Susan Diane born June 1 at Lodi Memorial Hospital. She weighed 8 pounds 9¼ ounces and arrived at 10:09 a.m.

At the May 23 meeting of the Galt Lions Club, charter memberships were received and the first officers elected: President, Orvell Fletcher; first vice president, Bob McCaffrey; second vice president, Ray Arlin; secretary, Roy Herburger; treasurer, Oscar Diede; tail twister, Jack Guthrie; lion tamer, Bill Spaans; directors Laurence Littleton, Art Heinle, Ray Williams, Harold Pickrell, Ben Salas; publicity, Bill Beck.

Honor students at Galt High School include Carl Koellman, valedictorian and winner of the Future Teachers scholarship; Dorothy Schauer, also an FTA winner; and Fay Templeton, winner of the Galt Area Teachers scholarship. All plan to attend Sacramento State.

Two Galt residents were given Boy Scout’s highest volunteer awards, the Silver Bear in ceremonies Thursday night. They were Stan Brookins and Lillie Chapman.

Cathy Loose was selected as the 1973 Miss Galt at the annual pageant Saturday night at the high school.
May 26, 1983
Beth McNutt, Bilingual teacher at Valley Oaks School, was feted by members of the faculty and staff at a “graduation party” on May 20. Ms. McNutt received her Masters Degree in Bilingual Education at California State University, Sacramento on May 21. Guests enjoyed a “Ziggy” cake and build-your-own ice cream sundaes.

Lisa Tucker, 18, of Galt, won the Future Farmers of America State Proficiency Award on Diversified Livestock Production. Lisa’s project consists of fifty head of breeding ewes, five breeding cattle, horses and market hogs.
