The Galt Joint Union High School $55,000 bond issue, which was voted on last Tuesday by the taxpayers for a new gymnasium was approved by a vote of 326-135.

Miss Sally Kenefick underwent an appendectomy at the Mercy Hospital in Sacramento. She is recovering very nicely.

March 9, 1951

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Olson hit the jackpot at a whist party last week. Both walked home with prizes, and this is practically a miracle for Ed, he readily admits.

Dean McFarland of the U.S. Army Air Corps in Spokane, Wash. has been promoted to major, it was announced last week by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. I.C. McFarland, Galt. McFarland is a graduate of Galt schools and was one of the pilots in the Ploesti oil raids during World War II.

Members of the Galt High School basketball team have elected Keith Coffey captain of the 1950-51 team. Co-captains of the B team were also elected: J.B. Girard and Jerry Witherspoon.

March 9, 1961

Rosellen C. Maestretti, 23, of Herald, enlisted in the Navy March 2 for three years. She is now at the Naval Training Center, Bainbridge, Md. Rosellen has been employed as a secretary by the Galt branch of Farmers & Merchants Bank since graduating as an honor student from Galt High School in 1955. She is the daughter of Beatrice Maestretti and the late Alfred Maestretti.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Anthony A. Simas of Galt a daughter, Dana Marie, Feb. 16, 10:07 p.m., weighing 7 pounds 10 ounces at Lodi Memorial Hospital.

March 11, 1971

Outdoing Ireland, the City of St. Patrick (Galt to a lot of people some 364 days a year) with His Honor Tom Farrell as mayor will have their “thing” next Wednesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kiser Jr. of Galt became the proud parents of a baby boy born on Feb. 18 in Lodi Memorial Hospital. The young man weighed a bouncing 8 pounds 14 ounces and is named Ronald Joseph.

March 12, 1981

Galt resident Robin Ianperiato faces skin grafts and other corrective surgery following an attempted murder incident early last week. Ianperiato left The Club bar on Fourth Street after 2 a.m. on March 1, when she was confronted by a male and female, and an argument erupted between the two females. The male then reportedly lit the victim’s blouse front on fire. Ianperiato was able to douse the flame in a street puddle, but not before suffering second and third degree burns in the upper 15% of her body.
