A wedding shower honoring Clara Liebig was held last Friday evening in the Women’s Clubhouse. The honoree, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Liebig of Galt, will become the bride of Elvin Miller of Herald Nov. 11. Hostessing at the shower were Mmes. Charles Schaal, Emil Miller, Erwin Gross, Neal Townley and Doyle Miller.

Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Dambacher of Thornton observed the 57th anniversary of their wedding last week. Since retiring in 1940, the Dambachers have resided in Thornton.

Art Dowdell, proprietor of Dowdell’s Implement Co., injured his eyes last week in an accident while working. One of his eyes is still bandaged, but he is able to do some work.

The drainage and sewer situation drew heavy attention from the Galt city fathers Tuesday night as they passed an emergency ordinance requiring a $1,000 per acre drainage fee, up from the present $500, for all new subdivisions. In addition they added a $750 per acre fee for sewage.

Sgt. Bob Dixon and Officer Bob Whittington seized 90 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $37,000. They arrested Joe Louis Trull on charges of cultivating and being in possession of marijuana.

To the tune of an estimated $9,000 per year, city officials have found themselves battling vandals in the five city parks. Including the recently destroyed concrete picnic table at Harvey Park, vandals have “destroyed” the interior of the bathroom, defaced park equipment with graffiti and continually steal spigots and sprinkler heads.

Brenda Jean Graybill of Galt and Donald W. Nottoli, also of Galt, became husband and wife when they recited nuptial vows July 25 at St. Pius X Seminary.
