Guests and members of the Junior Women’s Club enjoyed an informal party Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Pearson. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Don Campbell and sons, Mr. and Mrs. John Sutten and Betty Jo, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Jamison, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Foutz, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wharton, Betty and Charles, and the Pearsons.
Dr. and Mrs. Vernon E. Greer celebrated their first wedding anniversary Aug. 11 with a trip to San Francisco.

The new Hoag Seed Cleaning Plant at Galt will open for the season’s cleaning operations Monday, Aug. 20, it was announced this week by owner Victor Hoag. The business will be under the management of Burdette J. Warson, a graduate of Chico State College with an A.B. degree and a major in commercial studies.
Gary Hall, son of Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Hall, and Michael Greer, son of Dr. and Mrs. V.E. Greer, recently returned from YMCA camp where they spent 10 days hunting, hiking and other sports.

Acting on the recommendations of Supervisor Jack Mingo, the board of supervisors, sitting as a board of equalization, denied the requests of George T. Kenefick, Floyd McCune and Beatrice Hayenga, all of Galt, for reductions in county assessments on their land.
The home of Ramona Harbert was appropriately decorated for a shower given to Bobbie Lamb and her new daughter, Julie Lynn, Saturday evening. Hostesses were Harbert, her sister-in-law Joyce Cain, assisted by her mother, Mrs. Melvin Cain.
The Alfred Maestrettis are the proud parents of a baby daughter. Cynthia Lynn weighed in at 8 pounds 1 ounce at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 14 at Lodi Memorial Hospital.

A first for the San Joaquin County Fair was established at this year’s fair by the Thornton community. For the third year in a row they have won first prize, not only for best agriculture exhibit but also for the most attractive exhibit at the entire fair. This is the first time in the fair’s history that one group has captured top honors three consecutive years.
Mr. and Mrs. Steven Robbins, Galt, are the parents of a baby girl born Aug. 3 at Lodi Memorial Hospital. Her name is Stephanie Ann and she weighed 7 pounds 1 ounce.
Aug. 20, 1981
Phil and Barbara Ochoa of Western Auto in Galt, announced the birth of their grandson, Noah James Caldwell. Noah is the son of Pamela and John Caldwell of South Lake Tahoe. He was born Aug. 12 and has one brother, Jade, who is two-years-old.
Tony Gora of Galt was nominated by the Board of Supervisors to the Southeast Are Community Planning Advisory Council.
