The election for school trustees, which was held last Friday for both the Galt High School and the Galt Grammar School, resulted in the election of new men for both schools. At the high school election, Christopher N. Adams defeated John T. Kenefick and, at the grammar school, Irvin Engel won by two votes over Art Mollring.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. William Pearson of Galt on Monday, June 10 at Sacramento hospital, an 8-pound 1-ounce baby girl named Barbara Jean.

June 16, 1950

Mr. and Mrs. William Mori of Thornton are the parents of a daughter, Janice Cecila, born at Buchanan Hospital on June 5. She weighed 7 pounds and arrived at 8:35 p.m.

Arno School held graduation exercises on June 8 at the school. Haven Bode, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bode of Valensin was the only pupil to graduate, as he was the only member of his class.

June 16, 1960

Arcohe School graduated 16 eighth graders June 7: Craig Ahlstrom, Barzielee Drewry, Gary Foley, Alva George, Alan Hastings, Clarence Jones, Peggy Linneman, John Maggy, Andrew Maestretti, Barbara Milburn, Donald Robinson, Jon Robinson, Glen Ruth, Laurie Stouffer, Terry Talcott and Ronald Tucker.

June 18, 1970

Galt voters turned out Tuesday for the special election on the city’s sewer service charge, 499 strong. The city ordinance was repealed 303-196. The ordinance, adopted by the city council earlier last year, imposed a $1.25 monthly charge, which would have netted the city $19,000 annually.

June 19, 1980

Steven B. Parker reported a strong-arm robbery on 446 Fairway Drive. Parker was operating a recycling truck at the address when he was confronted by a male suspect who took $800 cash.

Tammy Sue Sayer and Michael Lee Misley became husband and wife when they recited nuptial vows June 14.
