The election last Wednesday for the formation of a joint union elementary school district between the Galt elementary district and the Liberty elementary district, resulted in the vote being overwhelmingly in favor of the union district.
Glenn McFarland has arranged to install one of the most modern and up to date refrigerated locker systems in the state of California, on the site corner of the old highway and B Street.

The Galt City Council met Aug. 29 at City Hall, and approved unanimously Resolution No. 34, which sets the city tax rate at the same $1 per $100 valuation, which has been in force in the past.
The Thornton 4-H Club took quite a few prizes home from the San Joaquin County Fair on 4-H Day Aug. 25. Virginia Ingram, Joyce Mori and Jeanne Vetter took first in a judging contest, Evelyn Weller won a lamb in the Lamb Scrambler, and the Thornton 4-H booth took second prize.

City councilmen, meeting Tuesday, took another step in the proposed installation of gutters and curbs on Lincoln Way, from A to F streets, making a modern business thoroughfare.
Miss Alice Mae Engel returned to Galt following a year in Pirmaesens, Germany where she taught children of military personnel stationed there.

Wendy Ellen Fletcher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orvell Fletcher of Galt, and James A. Porter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Porter of Petaluma, recited nuptial vows in Morris Chapel, University of the Pacific Aug. 22.
Patsy Loretz represented Sacramento County well at the 4-H State Dress Revue held recently. Miss Loretz was selected as one of the 12 blue ribbon finalists out of 53. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Loretz of Franklin.

Peggy J. King of Acampo and Anthony Joseph Nicolini of Galt became husband and wife when they recited nuptial vows July 19 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church.
