The Junior Women’s Club entertained at the home of Mrs. Dorothy Pearson Nov. 13 with a potluck dinner. Dinner was served to Mr. and Mrs. Lee Jamieson, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hobday, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wharton, Mrs. Aggie Immoos, Mrs. Rose Graff, Mr. Albert Trueman, and the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Pearson.

Harold Williams, who has been stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., was visiting here at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Williams. Harold has been transferred to Fort Ord, Calif.

Nov. 23, 1951

Preliminary construction was started this week on a new building in the 200 block of Lincoln Way, which will contain the offices of The Galt Herald upon completion early next spring. The structure is being built by Andrew Gross, well-known Twin Cities businessman.

A bleak future for the Sacramento County Fair at Galt was forecast Monday night by Ancil Hoffman, president of the 52nd District Agricultural Association, at a Galt Chamber of Commerce dinner. Hoffman said there is considerable pressure being exerted against the fair by members of the state legislature, and that it seems very likely the annual attraction will be shifted to some other site.

Nov. 23, 1961

Dr. Robert McKee, superintendent of the Galt Union Elementary School District, tendered his resignation to the school board at the regular meeting of the trustees Monday night. He gave no reason for his resignation, effective July 1, 1962. George Segale, former vice principal at Fairsite School, was named principal of the school by the board.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Biederman and family have moved into their new home at 602 G Street. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wade of Sacramento have purchased the home formerly owned by the Biedermans at 610 B Street.

Election of officers of the Herald-Clay Community Club was held at the November meeting with Bonnie Boswell president; Mike Winterowd, vice president; Karen Gaarder, secretary; Lena Gerber, treasurer; Wanda Tripp, photographer; Beno Bryant, historian and reporter; and telephone committees, for Elk Grove Nancy Chenault and for Clay Station Darlene Smith.

Nov. 26, 1981

The Mater Ecclesiae Catholic Church was the recent setting for the marriage of Patricia Diane Bender and Jim Henry Captein.

Jennifer Davy and Deborah Kay Moller of Galt are entered in competition for the title of Miss San Joaquin County. This pageant is a steppingstone to the Miss California-Miss America Pageant.

Students Missy Whaley, Jason Hickingbottom and Michelle Kneppel will serve for one year on a 12-member school site council at Galt Middle School.
