March 14, 1941

On Monday, March 10, Mr. and Mrs. George May Sr. celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary.

Last Saturday, March 8 at 4:30 in the afternoon, Miss Goldie Irene Baltzer of Lodi and Mr. Robert Angele of Galt were united in marriage. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Carson Angele who live west of Galt and he is a graduate of the Galt high school and was one of the outstanding athletes.

Born – To Mr. and Mrs. V.T. Roberts of Galt a son, weighing 8 pounds 10½ ounces, named Thurman Allen at a Lodi hospital on March 10. Dr. V.E. Greer was in attendance.

March 16, 1951

E.J. Hall and Dr. D.H. Ireland, incumbents to the Galt County Water District, have been appointed by the board of supervisors to the position of water directors.

Promotion to the rank of sergeant for William A. Ryan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lou Ryan of Galt, was recently announced by authorities at Tyndale Air Force Base.

Henry Hauschildt, son of Mrs. Inez Hauschildt of Galt, will graduate from Navy boot training in San Diego March 27, after which he will be home for two weeks.

March 16, 1961

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hauschildt of Galt, a daughter, Karen Ann, March 9, 10:30 a.m., Sutter Maternity Hospital. She weighed in at 6 pounds 6 ounces … Born to Mr. and Mrs. Herman Wagenman of Galt a son, David Allen, March 25 at 12:20 a.m., weighing 8 pounds 8 ounces at Lodi Memorial Hospital.

Carolyn Goldsmith, student at Galt High School, was announced the local winner for the annual Native Sons of the Golden West oratorical contest, sponsored in Galt by the Native Daughters. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Curby Goldmsith.

March 18, 1971

The City Council Tuesday night moved to operate the Wednesday flea market beginning in April as they turned down a proposal by Trade Mart Inc. to extend their lease and renegotiate.

A new church in Galt is the Full Gospel Community Church, which has opened its doors at 149 Fourth Street across from Diamond National Co. Rev. W.W. Wise is the pastor.

March 19, 1981

Mayor Bob Dunnett is reportedly in “fairly good” condition at Lodi Memorial Hospital following a single-car accident last Saturday night.

In a surprise move, City Council voted to rescind a moratorium on subsidized housing before an overflow crowd that was geared for battle. Prior to the meeting, about 30 picketers paraded in front of City Hall with signs reading “low income people pay taxes” and other similar messages.
