July 18, 1941

The youthful members of the Junior Women’s club of Galt held their regular semi-monthly business meeting in Elk Grove Park last Tuesday. They accepted Mrs. Pauline Foutz, a new Galt resident, as a member of the club. Others present were Mesdames Vera Hobday, Harriet Sutten, Della Miller, Vivian Perry, Lucille Steele, Dorothy Pearson, Aggie Immoos and visitor Mrs. Mabel Laird.

A group of young friends met at the Ernest Gudel home last Friday evening to celebrate the 18th birthday of Miss Florence Gudel.

July 20, 1951

The Sacramento County Fair in Galt has come and gone, and already plans are being formed for the future. Doomed to a do-or-die three-day show, the fair played to more than 10,000 persons, exceeding all estimates.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Pratton of Galt are the parents of a daughter named Donna Lee, who was born at Mason Hospital on July 18 at 5:15 p.m. and weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces.

July 20, 1961

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lamb, Galt, a daughter, Julie Lynn, July 13, 3:16 a.m. at Lodi Memorial Hospital. She weighed in at 6 pounds 9 ounces.

Whisker winners at the Galt Festival were: Best western, Alan Brachmaier; fanciest, Kent Shebelut; longest, Wesley Barquist; shaggiest, Art Gross; most novel, Dale Woodson; Abe Lincoln, Domenico Menicucci; goatee, Norbert Stamp; mustache, Jim Caldwell; hardest try-least results, Richard Bradley.

July 22, 1971

Friday night, July 23 will mark the 50th year for Boy Scout Troop 60 of Galt. Scoutmaster is Lonnie Griffith and the troop is sponsored by Valley Oak Grange.

Graduating from Fresno State College June 3 was Michael C. Stiehr who received his Bachelor of Science degree in animal science. He is a graduate of Galt High School class of 1963 and then spent two years in the U.S. Army with a year in Vietnam. While there, he earned the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

July 23, 1981

Kelli Ann Langston was united in marriage with Robert (Steven) Graybill at a double ring, candelight ceremony Saturday, June 27.

Stacey Benton, 14, is chosen to be Queen of Herald Day. Kelly Feiock and Gina Russo are princesses. The three will be crowned at the inaugural event Saturday.
