Mr. Thomas L. Cram and Miss Barbara Jean Sutton were united in marriage last Thursday evening, May 11 by Mrs. Lida Bowman-Ward, local justice of the peace.

May 20, 1949

Miss Lydia Ferriera of Thornton and Mr. Louie Listini of Galt announced their engagement last week at a birthday party given at the Hugh Stafford home in Thornton.

Competing in the Whiskerino Club Queen Contest are: Darlene Marengo, Barbara Vass, Darleen Quaschnick, Winniefred Hartsock, Bonnie Williams, Shirley Casado, Lorraine Jaymot and Deana Markey. All are students at Galt High School and well known in the community.

May 21, 1959

Charles Bellie and Gustav Gerling, incumbents on the Galt Union High School board, won re-election during the special election held Tuesday, unofficial returns from the precincts showed yesterday. Bellie and Gerling tied with 223 votes each, while Cedric Casado, seeking a board seat, was a close third with 199 ballots.

Judy Henson and Carl Bonar, students at Galt Union High School, have won the trophies in the Bank of America Achievement Awards for the current year, it was announced by Superintendent of Schools O.K. Fletcher.

Charles Bellie, Galt Sego Milk plant manager and member of the high school board of trustees, received a high 4-H award recently in recognition of 20 years of 4-H club leadership.

William Owen, chairman of the Science and Mathematics Department of Galt High School, has accepted a scholarship in the Summer Institute for high school teachers of science to be offered by Sacramento State College.

Mrs. R.C. Whittemore was elected president of the Herald Garden Club for the coming year at a meeting held May 13 by the club. Serving with Mrs. Whittemore will be Mrs. Donald Monseth, vice president; Mrs. Reg Peart, secretary; Mrs. Charles Rice, treasurer; and Mrs. George Kenefick, director.

Mr. and Mrs. William Cash welcomed their first child, a boy, on May 16 at the Lodi Memorial Hospital. The little lad will answer to the name of James Franklin.

Galt City Council held a special meeting at which it was decided to move forward with the construction of a review stand, park improvements, and improvements and repair of the administration building in Fairsite Park.

May 24, 1979

Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Dameron of Galt announce the engagement of their daughter, Diane, to Richard Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Allen of Houston, Texas.
