The Better Half Club of Galt had their regular meeting Tuesday afternoon of this week at the home of Mrs. Evelyn Bedell. Those present were the hostess Mrs. Bedell and Mrs. Vera Hobday, Mrs. Dorothy McGarva, Mrs. Della Miller, Mrs. Dorothy Pearson, Mrs. Harriet Sutten, Mrs. Mabel Williams.

Jan. 13, 1950

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Baumann of Twin Cities are the proud parents of their first child, a daughter, born Jan. 6 at the Buchanan Hospital. Little Janice Ann weighed 4 pounds 11 ounces.

Miss Darlene Marengo was honored at a bridal shower given by Misses Wanda Crosson and Elaine Mullins at the Women’s Clubhouse the evening of Jan. 9.

Jan. 14, 1960

Walter Hering was installed as master of the Valley Oak Grange, Galt, at the group’s January meeting.

Walter Balliet was in on the secret, but his wife, Dorothy, received a real surprise when a group came to their new home at 726 Myrtle Street to give them a housewarming party Saturday night. The group met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Harbert and came together.

Jan. 15, 1970

Galt Cub Scout Pack 119, a newly formed pack receiving its charter last May, is making an all-out effort to get the pack set up and running. There are presently three dens with 20 boys signed up. Den mothers are Nora Lindberg, Evelyn Wells and Peg Hickey.

Jan. 17, 1980

Sarah Catherin Skelton of Galt had a unique birth, in that her grandmother, Anna Skelton, delivered her. Born Jan. 9, little Sarah didn’t wait for a hospital or doctor. While daddy was going to get grandmother, Sarah decided it was time to come. Sarah’s mom and dad are Kenneth R. and Princella Skelton.

A toast, given by Rico Bianchi, at a buffet dinner hosted by Mr. and Mrs. William Tiffee, and Mr. and Mrs. John Bianchi, announce the engagement of Linda Tiffee to Rocky Bianchi.
