Hands on learning

As the saying goes, ‘the world is a classroom’ and, for Galt High School’s Ag Metals and Advanced Ag Welding class, that classroom is happening now right on campus, but not with the traditional four walls. In fact, there are no walls at all – for now. The students have been invited to get an up close and personal view as the construction of the newest building to be added to campus is underway. Students don the traditional hardhats and safety vests provided by Roebbelen, the construction company building the facility. Students are able to speak with and ask questions of construction workers, foremen and architects as the building goes vertical. The two-story science/biomedical building is the last major project of Measure E, passed by voters in 2016. The project broke ground June 2019 and is slated to open fall 2020.
