One of the finest basketball players to come out of Galt High School’s 112-year history was a boy named James “Jim” Wood. In his senior season, the 6-foot, 6-inch Wood averaged 22.5 points per game, scored 563 points, had 275 rebounds, and had a game-high 43 points. He was named all-league in the Golden Empire League. Jim went on to play at San Joaquin Delta College and then played for the Seaton Hall University Pirates of the Big East. Once he was done playing basketball, Jim Wood became a successful businessman in Lodi. The photo is from a Seaton Hall practice session.
